General Census of Population and Housing Commences
Riyadh, February 09, 2010, SPA -- Minister of Economy and Planning Khalid Al-Qusaibi launched here today the actual commencement of the General Census of Population and Housing.
Speaking on the occasion, Al-Qusaibi underlined the importance of General
Census of Population and Housing.
He noted that the leaders of member countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council
(GCC) during a meeting in Oman in 1422 H, approved the recommendation of the
GCC Ministerial Council for planning and development as regards unification of
the period of General Census in the GCC countries.
Al-Qusaibi pointed out that each member country of the GCC will carry out the
census operation during 2010, adding that the decision is aimed at boosting the
trend of the member countries towards integration.
Al-Qusaibi said the Central Department of Statistics and Information has made
all the necessary arrangements for conducting the general census.
