Doosan Heavy suffers wider loss in 2009 on costs

SEOUL, Feb. 10 (Yonhap) -- Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction Co., South
Korea's leading power equipment maker, said Wednesday that its earnings dropped
last year on increased costs and loss from equity ties with affiliates.

Net loss reached 328 billion won (US$283 million) last year, compared with a loss
of 65.9 billion won a year earlier, the company said.
Sales increased 10 percent to 6.28 trillion won over the cited period, and
operating income dropped 15 percent to 404 billion won, it said.
Shares of Doosan Heavy closed at 82,100 won on the Seoul bourse, up 0.86 percent.
