Seoul shares open higher on foreign buying
SEOUL, Feb. 11 (Yonhap) -- South Korean stocks got off to a strong start on
Thursday as foreign investors stepped up buying of auto and financial shares,
analysts said.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) advanced 13 points, or
0.83 percent, to 1,583.12 in the first 15 minutes of trading.
Most sectors traded in positive territory with auto makers being among the
brightest spots. Top automaker Hyundai Motor Co. gained more than 2 percent and
its smaller affiliate Kia Motors Corp. rose more than 1 percent.
The local currency was trading at 1,157.95 won to the greenback as of 9:15 a.m.,
up 2.25 won from Wednesday's close.
