More Chinese expected to visit S. Korea over Lunar New Year holiday

SEOUL, Feb. 11 (Yonhap) -- The number of Chinese tourists visiting South Korea
during the Lunar New Year holiday is expected to rise 20 percent from a year ago
to around 38,000, the Korea Tourism Organization said Thursday.
The state-run tourism agency also forecast that Chinese tourists will spend about
250 million yuan (US$36.6 million) shopping during the holiday, which stretches
from Saturday through Monday.
The expected increase was based on overall growth in international travel this
year by Chinese tourists, it said.
The agency added that a limited number of short-haul international flights is
hindering South Korea's efforts to draw more tourists from China.
