Seoul shares trade 0.8 pct lower in late morning

SEOUL, Feb. 12 (Yonhap) -- South Korean stocks traded 0.8 percent lower late
Friday morning as foreign and institutional sell-offs drove down technology and
steel shares, analysts said.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) slid 12.86 points to
1,584.95 as of 11:20 a.m.
The tech sector staged a bearish run led by market bellwether Samsung
Electronics, which lost more than 1 percent.
Hynix Semiconductor, the world's second-largest memory maker, sank nearly 2
percent on reports that no bidders emerged ahead of the Friday deadline to apply
for its creditors' stake sales.
The local currency was trading at 1,155.65 won to the greenback as of 11:20 a.m.,
up 1.15 won from Thursday's close.
