Glovis to place order for 3 car carriers

SEOUL, Feb. 12 (Yonhap) -- Glovis Co., a South Korean freight company controlled
by Hyundai Motor Co., said Friday its board has decided to place an order for
three car carriers to meet demand from Hyundai and its affiliate Kia Motors Corp.

Glovis will spend US$191.5 million to purchase the car carriers with a capacity
of 6,000 cars each, the company said in a regulatory filing.
When asked about market speculation that Hyundai Heavy Industries Co. may win the
order, an official at Glovis said, "The order will be placed through a fair
bidding."
Glovis plans to ship about 440,000 cars made by Hyundai and Kia this year.
