Saudi Aramco to collaborate with Top Universities 2 Thuwal

“For Saudi Aramco to become a world leader in strategic technologies it has
to facilitate forging research and development alliances with top local and
international institutes,” Abdulhamid said.

During the meeting, all three groups expressed a willingness to join forces.

KAUST president Choon Fong Shih, CAS executive vice president Dr. Chunlai Bai
and Abdulhamid agreed there was potential to create great value for all
parties.

During the technical discussions that followed, several upstream and downstream
research areas, such as desulfurization, membrane technology for natural gas
separation and the synthesis of nano-structured materials for erosion and
corrosion applications were examined.

It was recognized that all three members would bring significant scientific
power to the table. While Saudi Aramco, KAUST and CAS have strong research and
technology skills, Saudi Aramco brings with it practical oil industry
experience, according to a report carried by Saudi Aramco's web-site.
