Dr. Al-Salem Stresses Kingdom's Comprehensive Strategy in Fighting Terrorist Crimes

Riyadh, February 14, 2010, SPA -- The Undersecretary of Ministry of Interior
Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Salem has stressed that the comprehensive strategy of
the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in fighting terrorist crimes and the
interdependence of its security, legal, judicial and preventive dimensions,
have succeeded in reducing the threats posed by terrorist groups, which have
made the Saudi experience in fighting terrorism greatly appreciated by
countries and international organizations concerned with counter-terrorism.

In a statement on the occasion of the workshop entitled "Global Legal framework
for Combating Terrorism and its Finance" to be organized by Investigation and
Public Prosecution Commission in cooperation with the United Nations Office on
Drugs and Crime in the Middle East on Saturday, he said that the Government of
the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has
been among the first ones in calling for enhanced international cooperation in
combating terrorism and activating the mechanisms of this cooperation, through
the proposal to set up an international center for combating terrorism at the
end of International Counter-Terrorism Conference called for by Saudi Arabia
and held in Riyadh, in addition to its adoption of a draft resolution submitted
to the General Assembly of the United Nations on the basis of Security Council
resolutions in this regard.
Dr. Al-Salem noted that the directives of Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz, the Second
Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior, his Deputy and his Assistant for
Security Affairs with regard to the cooperation of the Kingdom with the
international community in combating terrorism at the level of security, have
made the Kingdom an active and effective party to the treaties and
international and regional conventions to combat terrorism, as well as many
bilateral agreements.
