HUBCO set up 225MW power plant with $300 million investment in Pakistan
Karachi, June 24 PPI: One of country's largest independent power producer The Hub Power Company Limited Monday said it has received Government of Pakistan's formal approval to set up combined cycle power plant based on Reciprocating Engines technology with investment of about $300 million and having ISO installed capacity of 225MW.
Tariff structure for new plant was recently agreed with National Electric Power
Regulatory Authority and letter of support received from Private Power
Infrastructure Board. All equipment supply and construction contracts have been finalized.
Being set up in District Narowal, Punjab it will start supplying electricity to
national grid from end March 2010, thereby help reduce acute power shortage in the
country.
It is powered by 11 of largest 18 cylinder, V configuration versions of most powerful four stroke engines of MAN Diesel's stationary power generation program, burn Residual fuel oil and operate in combined cycle arrangement with total net electrical capacity of 213.60MW at Site condition.
Javed Mahmood, Chief Executive Hubco said "This investment reflects our desire to be
part of solution to burgeoning energy crisis in Pakistan. We are fully committed to
Pakistan's development, progress and continue to look at power projects even beyond
this second plant in years to come.''
