Hyundai Motor`s auto sales in Europe jump 51.6 pct in January
SEOUL, Feb. 17 (Yonhap) -- Hyundai Motor Co., South Korea's top automaker, saw
its vehicle sales in Europe jump 51.6 percent in January from the same month a
year ago to 28,028 units, according to an industry report Wednesday.
Its affiliate Kia Motors Corp. also posted a 37.3 percent rise to 19,057 units in
auto sales in January in Europe, the European Automobile Manufacturers'
Association said in the report.
Hyundai and Kia were two of a few major beneficiaries from incentive programs to
spur new-car demand by governments across Europe.
Last year, Hyundai's auto sales in Europe rose 26.6 percent to 341,837 units, and
Kia saw vehicle sales gained 5.8 percent to 252,403 units in the region.
In January, combined market share of Hyundai and Kia in Europe stood at 4.4
percent, compared with 4.1 percent for all of 2009, according to the report.
