Founder of Namyang Dairy Products dies at 84

SEOUL, Feb. 17 (Yonhap) -- Hong Du-Yeong, founder of Namyang Dairy Products Co.,
South Korea's No.2 manufacturer of milk products, died Wednesday at a Seoul
hospital, the company said. He was 84.
Hong, who was born in 1925, founded Namyang Dairy in 1964 after he escaped from
North Korea to South Korea during the 1950-53 Korean War.
He received an order of industrial service merit and a presidential citation for
his achievement and services in South Korea's dairy industry.
Hong established Namyang Dairy with the determination to produce milk products
with local technologies as he witnessed South Korean children suffering from
hunger following the Korean War.
