SKT to commercialize high-end USIM in May

SEOUL, Feb 18 (Yonhap) -- SK Telecom Co., South Korea's biggest mobile carrier,
said Thursday it will commercialize a high-end universal subscriber identity
module (USIM) for the first time in the world in May.
SK Telecom unveiled the high-end USIM, called "Smart SIM," at the Mobile World
Congress in Barcelona, Spain, on Wednesday before starting work to commercialize
it, the company said in a statement.
Smart SIM is a high-performance USIM that can save more information than existing
models and run applications in a subscriber identity module (SIM).
The removal SIM card stores the service-subscriber key used to identify a
subscriber on mobile telephony devices like mobile phones.
The SIM card allows users to change mobile phones by removing the card and
inserting it into another device.
