Afghan assisted return to Afghanistan from Pakistan continue

Islamabad, June 27 (PPI) - UN refugee agency assisted voluntary repatriation operation from Pakistan to Afghanistan is a continuing process under current arrangement, as agreed by Tripartite Agreement between Pakistan, Afghanistan and UNHCR.

A press release here Thursday said rumors, that 2008 is last year for Afghan voluntary returns, are ``false.'' Registered Afghans who wish to be assisted to return home can approach UNHCR centers in Peshawar and Quetta. The repatriation from Pakistan is a voluntary process.

According to principles of Tripartite Agreement, Afghan returns from Pakistan have to be gradual, voluntary and dignified in nature.

Those interested can approach UNHCR Voluntary Repatriation Centers (VRCs) in Hayatabad (North West Frontier Province) and Baleli (Balochistan) to deregister themselves and go through Iris verification test before departing for Afghanistan.
