Leader’s advisor urges all groups to avoid extremism

TEHRAN, March 3 (MNA) – Supreme Leader’s advisor Ali Akbar Nateq-Nouri called on all groups to avoid extremist actions in the society.

He made the remarks on the sidelines of the international conference of the Islamic unity opened in Tehran on Tuesday.

“Some people consider themselves to be completely right and don’t practice the flexibility that Islam advises, and this causes the prevalence of extremism and radicalism in the society,” the former Majlis speaker told reporters.

Based on the Islamic teachings and common sense, disputes should be settled through negotiation, he noted.

On unity among Muslims, he said ideological and political extremism has unfortunately undermined Islamic unity in the course of history.

He added currently Zionists and arrogant powers are seeking to damage unity among Muslims.

“The global arrogance is seriously frightened of the ever-increasing trend of converting to Islam in the Western countries, and that is why they have established false Islamic sects,” he said.

The cleric said a thoughtful analysis of issues will show that the U.S. is behind discord between Shia and Sunni Muslims and the birth of extremist groups such as Taliban, Al-Qaeda, and Jundullah.
