Iran to play Thailand in Asian Cup qualifier

TEHRAN, March 3 (MNA) -- Already-qualified Iran is to play Thailand in the 2011 Asian Cup qualifier at the Azadi Stadium in Tehran on Wednesday.
Iran has played with Thailand 11 times since 1972, of which Iran has won eight matches and three have ended in a draw.
The Persians have scored 26 goals with their biggest win coming in 1984 when they hit five goals.
Thailand’s best result against Iran is the 1-1 draw during the AFC Asian Cup 2000 in Lebanon.
Iran qualified for the AFC Asian Cup 2011 finals with 10 points from five matches in Group E; however, the remaining berth is still up for grabs.
Thailand and Singapore both have six points and bottom team Jordan has five points and they all stand a chance to jump up to second place.
