UN document authenticates name of Persian Gulf
TEHRAN, March 9 (MNA) – In a letter recieved by the Mehr News Agency an official UN document officially endorses the genuineness of the name “Persian Gulf”.
In the letter dated May 14, 1999, the secretariat of the United Nation has instructed all those concerned with drafting and editing United Nations documents and publications to use the term “Persian Gulf” in all documents and statements.
Part of the letter reads, "The term “Persian Gulf” is used in documents, publications and statements emanating from the Secretariat as the standard geographical designation for the sea area between the Arabian Peninsula and the Islamic Republic of Iran."
