23% increase in Iran's cement output

TEHRAN, March 10 (MNA) – Iran has produced over 47.44 million tons of cement in the first eleven months of the current Iranian calendar year (started March 20, 2009).

The figure shows a 17 percent increase compared with the same period in the last year, the Mehr News Agency reported.

Some 62.84 million tons of clinker have been also produced during the period, showing a rise of 15 percent compared to the year before.

According to the Industries and Mines Ministry, some 4 million tons of cement have been produced in the Iranian month of Bahman (January 21– February 19) which is 23 percent more than the same period in the last year.

Some 4.7 million tons of clinker were also produced in the mentioned period which shows a 26 percent rise compared to the previous year.

Iran currently produces some 65 million tons of cement per year.

Eight cement projects are projected to come on stream by the end of the current Iranian year (to end March 21) in order to boost Iran’s cement production capacity to 76 million tons.
