Iran rejects PGCC statement over its islands

TEHRAN, March 13 (MNA) – Iran has rejected a Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (PGCC) statement over its three Persian Gulf islands.
The baseless claims made by the PGCC in Riyadh over the Iranian islands of Greater Tunb, Lesser Tunb, and Abu Musa are an obvious interference in Iran’s internal affairs, Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said in a statement on Wednesday.
“The three islands have always been an indisputable part of the Iranian territory in the past,” he stated.
Iran has repeatedly said the minor misapprehension between Iran and the UAE over Abu Musa could be cleared up through negotiations, he said, adding that the meddling of other parties will never help resolve the issue.
The 114th session of the ministerial council of the PGCC was held in Riyadh on Tuesday.
