Iran gas exports hit 6.8b cubic meters
TEHRAN, March 14 (MNA) – Iran exported 6.8 billion cubic meters of natural gas in the current Iranian calendar year (to end March 20, 2010), the managing director of National Iranian Gas Exports Company said here on Saturday.
Javad Owji said, “this is an unprecedented figure.”
“Iran gas exports faced 43.8 percent increase in comparison to the the last year,” he added.
Noting that 54 power plants consume gas, Owji said, “averagely 422 million cubic meters per day of gas was consumed in the current year which is 10 percent more than the year before.”
He concluded that $6.8 billion will be invested in the under-construction gas projects in the next year.
