Cleric urges practical steps for Islamic unity
TEHRAN, March 16 (MNA) -- The secretary general of the World Forum for the Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought has said the Islamic nations should take practical steps toward unity.
Ayatollah Mohammad-Ali Taskhiri made the remarks in a conference on the unity of the Islamic schools of thought held in Damascus, Syria, the FPIST said in a press release on Monday.
The cleric who campaigns intensively for unity between Muslims also pointed out that the enemies are trying to create rifts among the Islamic Ummah.
Hezbollah Deputy Secretary General Sheikh Naeem al-Qasem also delivered a speech in the conference, praising the efforts by the Islamic Republic to promote unity among Islamic states.
The conference organized by the Syrian Charity Ministry in cooperation with the Iranian Cultural Consulate in Damascus and the Tehran-based FPIST ran from March 14-15.
