Iran's EC chairman abhors efforts to downplay success of past governments

TEHRAN, March 16 (MNA) – The Expediency Council chairman on Monday criticized attempts to play down or even deny the successes of the previous administrations.

“Making unfair attempt to inculcate into the young generation that every work done in the past has been a mistake and we have come to rectify all mistakes is a wrong policy,” Rafsanjani said.

Rafsanjani, who was president for two successive terms (1989-1997), said the current executive officials can not do more efficiently than the previous administrations.

Rafsanjani said those who consider themselves the exemplary followers of the Islamic Revolution and try to deny the role of veteran revolutionary figures are making a big mistake, because if the aim is the sustenance of the Islamic system, its founders should be retained.

“Denying the past without presenting a plan for the future is an unsuccessful move,” he noted.
