Iran inaugurates its first double-decker highway

ISFAHAN, March 16 (MNA) – Iran's first double-decker highway and the Qazvin-Rasht freeway were officially inaugurated on Monday.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad attended the inaugural ceremonies.

The double-decker highway, named Imam Khomeini, cost over 720 billion rials (around $72 million) and was built in 28 months in the city of Isfahan.

The highway is 5 kilometers long and will greatly ease the traffic of vehicles. A non-level crossing also came on stream costing 58 billion rials.

The 127-kilometer long Qazvin-Rasht freeway was inaugurated on the same day. The project was implemented at the cost of 4 trillion rials (some $400 million).
