Iran's Mahram crowned WABA champ

TEHRAN, March 16 (MNA) -- Iran’s Mahram claimed the title of the Champions’ Cup of West Asian Basketball Association (WABA) on Sunday.

Mahram overpowered Syrian Al-Jala 125 – 79 in Tehran’s Azadi Basketball Hall.

Iran’s other representative, Zob Ahan, defeated Al Riyadi 103 – 100 in the third place match.

A total of six West Asian teams namely Iranian Mahram and Zob Ahan, Lebanese Al Riyadi and Hoops, Syrian Al-Jala and Iraqi Duhok took part in the seven-day tournament.

The WABA Champions Cup is the West Asian club championship for basketball organized by the West Asia Basketball Association. It takes place every year and serves as a qualifying tournament for the FIBA Asia Champions Cup.
