Iranian woman speeding over 270 kph receives lifetime driving ban

TEHRAN, March 16 (MNA) -- A woman who was caught driving at a speed of 270 kilometers per hour has had her driver’s license permanently revoked.

The first person to receive a lifetime ban on driving was a woman who was clocked speeding at 270 kilometers per hour on the Niyayesh Highway in Tehran, Tehran Traffic Police Chief Seyyed Hadi Hashemi told reporters on Monday.

However, Hashemi pointed out that female drivers are generally more attentive to driving regulations than their male counterparts.

He also stated that during the current Iranian calendar year (ends on March 20), 2100 individuals have had their driver’s licenses revoked from one month to six months.

And over the past year, 20 individuals have had their driver’s licenses permanently revoked, Hashemi said.
