Iran urges Muslim action on Israeli moves in Beit-ul-Moqaddas

TEHRAN, March 27 (MNA) - Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said on Friday that it is necessary that Muslims take action against Israel’s construction plans in East Beit-ul-Moqaddas (East Jerusalem).

"Expansion of settlements, shameless destruction of residential homes and Islamic and Christian sites and wide-scale construction of new synagogues ... show the Zionist plans to speed up Judaization of East Beit-ul-Moqaddas and unfortunately these moves are endorsed by American officials," Mottaki noted.

Mottaki also described as extremely appalling recent remarks by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu who had said “Jerusalem is not a settlement, it’s our capital.”

Calling Israeli moves in Beit-ul-Moqaddas highly “dangerous”, the foreign minister told Muslims states: “It is not an option that we just be onlookers and choose to remain motionless and lose the time in favor of long-term plans by Zionist and American officials.”

Mottaki said in order to counter Israeli plans “it is essential that a committee of OIC and Arab League foreign ministers to be established in the earliest opportunity” to seriously study developments in the holy city and take serious and effective measures.
