KRISHNA-PAK 2 LST
Ahead of his visit to China on April five, Krishna
said the trip was aimed at enhancing bilateral ties and was
not focused on any specific issue like border dispute.
"That need not necessarily be. The general discussion
would be on the overall bilateral relationship," he said when
asked if the issue of border dispute will come up for
discussion during his meetings.
Pointing out that there was a mechanism in place to
address the issue, he said, "It's a long boundary. It's not
demarcated. So, it's going to take quite a bit of time (for
resolution of the boundary dispute).
"There has not been any problem on the boundary
issue. I think they have maintained tranquillity on the border
and we intend to continue maintaining that tranquil
atmosphere".
During the four-day stay in Beijing, the minister will
kickstart celebrations to mark the 60th anniversary of
establishment of diplomatic relations between India and China.
He will also formally inaugurate the Festival of India
in China.
On growing ties between China and Pakistan, he said it
"is something which is left to them".
"But as far as India is concerned, we have a strategic
dialogue with China. We intend to continue it, and we hope
that China would reciprocate," Krishna added. PTI
