Iran is not isolated: President Ahmadinejad
TEHRAN, April 4 (MNA) -- President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says Iran is not isolated and any additional pressure on the country will only consolidate Iran’s technological progress and increase its self-sufficiency.
The enemies are seeking to hinder Iran’s efforts to make technological progress and isolate the country, Ahmadinejad said in a speech broadcast live on state television on Saturday.
The West is attempting to impose harsher sanctions on the Islamic Republic, but they are actually helping Iran by encouraging it to become more self-sufficient, he added.
The more the West shows its animosity toward Iran, the more determined the Iranian people will become to build up the country, he stated.
Ahmadinejad said that the United States has failed in its efforts to isolate Iran and the fact that President Barack Obama's recent visit to Afghanistan was not announced in advance proved that it is the U.S. that is in isolation.
Obama came with the slogan of change and Iran welcomed it, but the U.S. reneged on that promise and stayed on the same course as before, he observed.
“The United States says it wants to bring the Iranian people out of isolation, but it should know that Iran and its people are not in isolation,” he noted.
The Iranian president also warned the Zionist regime to halt its military adventurism in the region, saying the continuation of such crimes would only hasten its demise.
Israel is seeking to dominate the region by putting pressure on regional countries and has killed thousands of innocent people in the process, Ahmadinejad added.
