Nuclear fuel swap offer still on table: Iran

TEHRAN, April 4 (MNA) -- Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Director Ali-Akbar Salehi has said that nuclear fuel swap offer is still on the table.

However, Iran is still making efforts to produce the fuel needed to power its nuclear medical reactor, Salehi said on Saturday.

Iran previously announced that it had sent a letter to the International Atomic Energy Agency Director General, Yukiya Amano, urging the UN once again to provide the country with nuclear fuel for its research reactor, an offer widely seen as a confidence-building measure.

The country has already started enriching uranium to higher degree for the medical reactor.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Salehi said that the Bushehr nuclear plant would come on stream in the next few months.

Moreover, the chief of Russia’s state nuclear corporation Rostam announced on Thursday that the nuclear power plant will be started up by autumn.
