Iranian play staged at Turkish festival

TEHRAN, Apr. 4 (MNA) -- The Iranian spiritual play “Take a Look at the Sky” by Mohammad-Mehdi Khatami went on stage at the 4th Ethos Ankara International Theater Festival on Thursday.

The festival running from March 27 to April 4 focuses on the central theme of migration.

The play features the character of an Iranian named Mohammad who was born into a wealthy family in Mashhad. He returns to his birthplace with his Christian wife and his daughter Jina after years of living in Europe.

Jina is suffering from an incurable disease and they decide to come to Mashhad where the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS) lies to ask the holy Imam for a remedy for her.

They check into an inn located near the shrine despite the fact that Mohammad’s father owns a large home in the city.

Jina does not feel any better and Mohammad begins to review his memories of the Iran-Iraq war during their stay. He finds out that he must first look within himself and purify his inner being.

The play was warmly received at the festival.

Mohammad-Mehdi Khatami has previously directed the plays “Call Me”, “Nights of the Shrine” and “Complaint”.
