Iran’s intl. poetry conference postponed

TEHRAN, Apr. 4 (MNA) -- The World and Iranian Poet Conference will be held in Tehran, Shiraz and Isfahan with three-day delay.

Plans were to hold the three-day conference organized by the Fajr International Poetry Festival beginning April 14 concurrent with Attar National Day in Tehran.

The conference will begin on April 17 with a ceremony at Tehran’s Vahdat Hall to be attended by 50 foreign poets, the House of Books director Ali Shojaii Sanin told the Persian service of MNA.

The attendees will travel to Isfahan on April 18 to hold a poetry ceremony there and will perform programs in different cultural centers including the Tomb of Hafez (Hafezieh) and Sadi Tomb (Sadieh) during their two-day sojourn in Shiraz, he mentioned.

The closing ceremony, which will be concurrent with Sadi National Day, will take place in Shiraz on April 20, he mentioned.

A bilingual collection in Persian and English entitled “A Window to Iranian Poetry Garden” which includes 33 poems composed by Iranian literati will be distributed during conference, he remarked.
