Tehran nuclear disarmament conference will be a success

TEHRAN, Apr. 5 (MNA) -- Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast has predicted that there will be great participation in the international conference on nuclear disarmament to be held in Tehran this month.

“The estimates show that this conference will be warmly welcomed by countries,” Mehmanparast told the Mehr News Agency on Sunday.

The Nuclear Energy for All, Nuclear Weapons for No One conference is scheduled to be held from April 17 to 18 in Tehran. A number of major international figures, nuclear experts, and foreign ministers and international and non-governmental organizations have been invited to participate in the conference.

Mehmanparast stated that the title of the conference shows that Iran is serious about utilizing nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.

“We believe that peaceful nuclear technology for meeting the requirements of development is one of the fundamental rights of all countries,” he added.

So far, “many pledges have been made in regard to nuclear disarmament across the globe, but unfortunately, it seems that the countries that chant these slogans are the same ones that are making the utmost efforts to develop nuclear weapons,” he noted.

Mehmanparast also condemned the use and possession of nuclear weapons.

“Iran, as one of the standard-bearers of nuclear disarmament, is very serious about this issue. We hope that other countries will join us and act responsibly in nuclear disarmament,” he stated.
