Nissan to sell 1st locally produced car in Vietnam+

TOKYO, April 5 Kyodo -
Nissan Motor Co. said Monday it will start selling its first locally produced
passenger cars in Vietnam on Tuesday, aiming to sell 2,000 units in the current
fiscal year ending next March.
Japan's third-largest automaker has set the price of its seven-seater Grand
Livina at the equivalent of around 3 million yen, company officials said. The
car will be sold in Ho Chi Minh City and other regions after being produced at
a local carmaker, they said.
Nissan sold about 200 units of its cars in Vietnam in 2009 and plans to expand
sales in the country by rolling out at least eight models in the next three
years, the officials said.
