Iran says SP phases all operational by 2015
TEHRAN, Apr. 6 (MNA) – Iranian Oil Minister Masoud Mirkazemi stated all phases of the South Pars gas field will come on stream by 2015.
According to Iran's fifth five-year socio-economic development plan (2010-2015), annually $25 billion should be invested in the upstream sector of the oil and gas industry, Mirkazemi said on Monday.
Development of oil and gas fields which are associated with the Persian Gulf states, Iraq, and Turkmenistan is a priority of the ministry, he added.
He went on to note that Iran’s oil and gas production capacity are respectively to reach over 5 million barrels and 900 million cubic meters per day by 2015.
South Pars field is a gas condensate field located in the Persian Gulf. It is the world’s largest gas field, shared between Iran and Qatar.
Iran, having the world’s second largest gas reserves and third largest oil reserves, is trying to play a more active role in oil and petrochemical transactions in international markets.
