ANADOLU AGENCY CELEBRATES 90th JUBILEE

Ankara, April 6 (AzerTAc). Turkey`s Anadolu Agency has celebrated its 90th anniversary with a solemn ceremony which brought together the country`s top-ranked state and government officials, MPs and local and foreign journalists.
Director General of the Azerbaijan State Telegraph Agency, AzerTAc, Aslan Aslanov attended the event.
Prior to the official ceremony, the participants of the celebrative event laid a wreath at the tomb of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk and viewed a joint photo exhibition by Anadolu Agency and Turkish Grand National Assembly, which also marks its 90th anniversary. Turkish Speaker Mehmet Ali Sahin spoke of the Turkish Grand National Assembly`s and Anadolu Agency`s history.
The celebrative event kicked off with a gala concert at the agency`s conference hall.
Anadolu Agency`s Director General Hilmi Bengi highlighted the agency`s achievements since its was founded 90 years ago.
AzerTAc Director General Aslan Aslanov said the Azerbaijan State Telegraph Agency and Anadolu Agency were “bound up together by ties of friendship and brotherhood just like our nations”.
“Our friendship and brotherhood were praised by outstanding personalities of the Turkish world - Mustafa Kemal Ataturk and Heydar Aliyev.”
Aslanov expressed confidence the two agencies would “always be together”.
The AzerTAc Director General touched upon Armenians` claims against Azerbaijan and Turkey.
“Armenians have occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan`s territories, and, for centuries, have been pursuing the so-called genocide campaign against Turkey.”
“As Azerbaijan`s President Ilham Aliyev said: ‘The vandals who committed the Khojaly genocide accuse us of committing a genocide and sometimes their false propaganda gives results. In many cases, foreign politicians - bribed by Armenians - express their support for Armenia and try to recognize the so-called Armenian genocide in their parliaments. It is a great Armenian lie, great Armenian sabotage. Armenians have always pursued the policy of genocide against Azerbaijanis and Turks.”
“Our news agencies must fight against Armenians` hypocritical propaganda,” Aslanov added.
Turkey`s Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc praised the Anadolu Agency`s potential to become “the world`s leading news agency”.
The ceremony also featured the launch of Anadolu Agency`s digital archive system.
Later the same day, a lavish banquet was arranged at the Turkish Grand National Assembly on the occasion of Anadolu Agency`s 90th anniversary.
