Iranian MPs to impeach roads minister
TEHRAN, Apr. 8 (MNA) – Iranian lawmakers have introduced an impeachment motion against Roads and Transportation Minister Hamid Behbahani, MP Ali-Asqar Yousefnejad said on Wednesday.
The impeachment motion was submitted to the Majlis (Parliament) Presiding Board on Wednesday and is expected to be discussed in the forthcoming open session of the parliament, Yousefnejad stated.
A number of conservative lawmakers have supported the impeachment bid.
However, it seems the new call for impeachment should not be considered serious as the Majlis Presiding Board had previously shelved similar impeachment motions against various ministers.
Behbani has been under fire for some time due to numerous accidents have happened on the country's roads, railways, and in air during his term in office at the Transport Ministry.
