Iran's SP gas output up 26%
TEHRAN, Apr. 8 (MNA) – Some 67.12 billion cubic meters of natural gas have been produced in the giant South Pars gas field in the previous Iranian calendar year (ended March 20, 2010).
The amount shows a 26 percent increase in comparison to its preceding year’s figure of 52.796 billion cubic meters.
Some 92 million barrels of gas condensates have also been produced in the mentioned period, from which 76 million barrels have been exported to some European and Southeast Asian countries.
The South Pars gas field is located on the Persian Gulf. It is the world’s largest gas field, shared between Iran and Qatar.
According to International Energy Agency, the field holds an estimated 50.97 trillion cubic meters (1800 trillion cubic feet) of in-situ gas and some 50 billion barrels of condensates.
