Iranian books submitted for Munich Intl. Youth Library list

TEHRAN, April 17 (MNA) -- Four Iranian children books now appear on the Munich International Youth Library 2010 selected book list.

As reported by the Iran’s Islamic Culture and Relations Organization, Iran ranks 21 among the 50 participating countries.

The books are Farideh Khalatbari’s “Iron Shoes” illustrated by Farshid Shafiei, Fereydun Amuzadeh Khalili’s “Crows Don’t Catch Bird Flu” illustrated by Neda Azimi, Atusa Salehh’s “I am Missing You” illustrated by Hoda Haddadi and Mohammadreza shams’ “Lazy Hero” illustrated by Mahmud Mokhatri.

Each year almost 10,000 books for children and young adults are sent to the International Youth Library by publishing houses all over the world. From these new acquisitions, the editors select 250 outstanding titles which are annotated in a catalogue and presented in March at the International Children’s Book Fair in Bologna.

After the fair, the International Youth Library puts the selected books and accompanying notes on display. The exhibition also presents reviews of some of the recommended books written by pupils at Munich primary and secondary schools.

The children’s contributions, produced through the “Testing the White Ravens” project, are critical, revealing, humorous and always surprising.
