Funeral held for Japanese cameraman killed in Bangkok clashes+
TOKYO, April 18 Kyodo -
Family members, friends and colleagues bid farewell to Hiroyuki Muramoto, a
Japanese television cameraman for Reuters news agency killed in violent clashes
between security forces and protesters in Bangkok earlier this month, as his
funeral was held Sunday in Tokyo.
News footage taken by Muramoto, including areas devastated by a tsunami
triggered by a massive earthquake off the island of Sumatra in 2004, were
screened at Aoyama Sogisho funeral hall in Minato Ward.
While praising the achievements of the 43-year-old cameraman, who worked for
the Tokyo bureau of the news agency, Reuters Editor-in-Chief David Schlesinger
said he does not want such a tragedy to happen again.
About 500 mourners saw off Muramoto's funeral car.
Muramoto was shot dead while filming the clashes on April 10 that left more
than a dozen others dead and
