Symposium highlights OIC role in supporting Muslim communities
Seoul, Jul 8 (SPA) - In a keynote address, on behalf of OIC Secretary General Prof.
Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, Ambassador Atta Al-Mannan Bakheet, OIC Assistant Secretary General, who is heading the OIC delegation to the Symposium, thanked South Korean President Lee Myung-bak, for hisgracious patronage of the conference.
"The OIC devotes tremendous efforts to boost dialogue withrepresentatives of Muslim communities across Asia, " Bakheet noted.
He called on the delegates to the Symposium to embrace and live by the values of tolerance, respect for other religions, and take on a significant role in enhancing the socio-economic development of theirrespective countries.
A large pool of leading figures and scholars representing Muslim communities from about 20 Asian countries attended the Symposiumalong with several delegates from Islamic organizations.
