Iran opens large CNG cylinder production plant

TEHRAN, April 27 (MNA) – A large compressed natural gas (CNG) cylinder production plant with the capacity to produce 100,000 units annually was inaugurated in Tehran on Monday.

The factory will supply the domestic market with CNG cylinders of 28 up to 130 liters capacity ranging from 168 to 425 millimeters in diameter, Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi said at the inauguration ceremony.

"The plant has been designed and built by the defense ministry," Vahidi added.

Compressed Natural Gas is a fossil fuel substitute for gasoline and diesel. Although its combustion does produce greenhouse gases, it is a more environmentally clean alternative to those fuels, and it is much safer than other fuels in the event of a spill.
