Factional disputes hinder development: Iranian President

TEHRAN, April 28 (MNA) -- President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has said that factional disputes impede progress of any nation including Iran.

Ahmadinejad made the remarks on Tuesday during a ceremony to honor a group of exemplary laborers on the eve of the International Workers’ Day on May 1.

The Iranian people are determinedly making efforts to move forward and they are reliant on their own culture and patterns, which are separate from the Western styles, he observed.

He said, “Our mission is to reconstruct Iran” and solidarity is an important factor in this regard.

“In order to achieve the goal we should exercise solidarity and mutual understanding amongst people from different walks of life,” he stated.

He went on say that hegemonic powers try to sow discord among nations in order to dominate them.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Ahmadinejad urged officials to make efforts to meet the country’s needs in various areas.

He said the government is determined to eradicate poverty and injustice in all parts of the country.
