Afghan poet calls for establishment of tri-national Persian lit academy
TEHRAN, May 2 (MNA) -- The Iranian-based Afghan poet Abutaleb Mozaffari proposed that Iran, Afghanistan, and Tajikistan establish a joint academy of Persian language and literature.
The literati of Persian literature should find a common name for the language used in these three countries which is called Dari in Afghanistan and Tajik in Tajikistan, he lamented.
He also commented on the problem of the publishing industry in his country and asked Iranian officials to help sponsor young Afghan authors.
“Afghan poetry as well as resistance and migration literature has had its development during the years of war in Afghanistan,” he added.
He pointed to the freedom of expression in Afghan press as the main factor which affects poetry and literature in that country.
He called Afghanistan the crossroads of different cultures saying that Persian speakers should be more concerned about the Persian language in this country.
