Iranian parliament presses interior minister on breach of hijab

TEHRAN, May 5 (MNA) – Majlis (parliament) Cultural Committee Chairman Qolamali Haddad Adel has announced that the Majlis has set a deadline for the interior minister to explain about a prevalence of immoral behaviors and violation of Islamic dress code in the society.

40 Majlis representatives met with the interior minister a couple of days ago and asked him questions about the breach of hijab and manifestation of immoral behaviors in the society,” Haddad Adel said on Tuesday in a meeting with the officials of the Coordination Council for Islamic Propagation in Mashhad.

“Representatives were not convinced with the minister’s answers and set a deadline for him to present convincing explanation about the Interior Ministry’s performance in this regard,” he added.

He also said that MPs called on the minister to revise the plan for tackling the social issues in way that police behave violators insightfully and politely, regardless of political issues.
