Austrian ambassador visits Quranic center in Iran
TEHRAN, May 5 (MNA) -- Austrian Ambassador to Tehran Thomas M. Buchsbaum visited Hojjatolesalm Mohammad-Sadeq Yusefi, the director of Quranic Culture and Teachings Center in Qom and discussed several issues.
Accompanied by an Austrian scholar, the Ambassador was invited to visit the center affiliated with the Research Center of Islamic Sciences in Qom.
Discussing several issues, Hojjatolesalm Yusefi expressed hope that both countries would strengthen bilateral relations and said, “It seems that Western scholars, especially those in the United States, have little knowledge of Islam and this has led to misunderstandings between the two cultures and the two religions.”
“We must provide the basis to promote dialogue between Iranian and Austrian scholars,” he added.
Ambassador Thomas Buchsbaum also said that as a diplomat it was his duty to get to know the country of Iran well and that he had been studying additionally about Iran before he came to the country.
“I met several Iranian scholars in Europe before I came to Iran and was certain that I was going to a highly developed country with a rich culture,” he stated.
