Iranian FM visits Turkey

TEHRAN, May 8 (MNA) -- Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki paid an unannounced visit to Turkey on Friday.

Mottaki, who attended the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) Review Conference at the UN Headquarters, had a brief stopover in Istanbul on Friday on his way back from New York to hold talks with his Turkish counterpart Ahmet Davutoglu.

The meeting primarily focussed on the proposed nuclear fuel exchange deal as well as a number of regional and international issues, Turkish media reported.

During his visit to New York, the Iranian foreign minister met representatives of the United States and other Security Council members on Thursday at a dinner meeting in Manhattan at the residence of the Iranian ambassador to the UN.

Most United Nations Security Council members sent ambassadors to the dinner meeting, Reuters reported.
