Iran issues rulings against 100 persons for financial corruption

TEHRAN, May 8 (MNA) – National Prosecutor General Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Ejei announced on Thursday that a court in Tehran has issued rulings against 100 persons for financial corruption.

The prosecutor did not give further details.

“Prosecutor should protect people’s rights and the Judiciary will firmly deal with the financially corrupt persons and so far rulings have been issued for 100 corrupt people residing in Tehran,” Mohseni-Ejei said.

Dealing firmly with financial corruption, drug trafficking, sexual assault, and hooliganism are high on the agenda of the Judiciary, he stated.

On the reasons behind the sluggish process of hearing in the court cases, Mohseni-Ejei said the existing laws are too restrictive and impeding, and hinder officials to fulfill their duties at the right time.

The Judiciary is also burdened with a high volume of work and it is currently understaffed, but judges will do their utmost to respond to people’s legitimate demands, he added.
