400 children of senior Iranian officials study in Britain
TEHRAN, May 16 (MNA) – MP Mohammad Shahryari has said that around 400 children of senior Iranian officials are studying at universities in Britain.
“It is among the contentious issues in relations between Iran and Britain and has been under discussion in the Majlis National and Foreign Security Committee,” Shahriyari, a committee member, told the Mehr News Agency on Saturday.
Considering the record of the British government in the course of history, the Majlis security committee is concerned that London might seek to take advantage of the situation to gather information on sensitive and secret issues to the detriment of Iran’s national interests, Shahriyari stated.
“Though no final decision has been made on the return of these children to the country so far, it deems advisable for these people not to study at British universities,” he added.
