Iran's Judiciary: MPs must not teach us how to deal with opposition leaders
TEHRAN, May 19 (MNA) – Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Larijani has criticized some MPs for writing a letter calling on the Judiciary to take an immediate legal actions against the “leaders of sedition.”
“We know our job,” Larijani noted on Tuesday.
“Some MPs have asked why the Judiciary drags feet to deal with the leaders of sedition and unfortunately some representatives have asked others to sign this letter,” Larijani explained.
There is no doubt that the opposition leaders have committed some offences, but the MPs should know that the Judiciary acts on the order of the Supreme Leader and takes the system’s overall polices into consideration before making any decision, he explained.
“Although we have explicitly explained to these representatives that the Judiciary will not compromise, they repeat these remarks once again,” he said.
“We know our job and ... we are not afraid of taking action against the leaders of sedition,” he added.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Larijani said it is not right that some MPs claim the Judiciary has put the directors of some media outlets on trial because the leaders of sedition have lodged complaint against them.
Larijani also addressed the opposition leaders, saying some of them have claimed that the Judiciary started to deal with corrupt elements but it halted the move on the orders of the Supreme Leader.
He went on to say “when has the Leader given me such an order? Why do you spread such lies? How do you expect that people join the ‘greens’?”
The Supreme Leader has emphasized that the Judiciary should deal with the corruption, but he advised officials that their actions should not undermine the system, he added.
