Patil to hold talks with China's triumvirate during her visit

Beijing, May 20 (PTI) Indian President Pratibha Patil
will hold talks with her Chinese counterpart Hu Jintao,
Chairman of National People's Congress Wu Bangguo and Premier
Wen Jiabao, who together constitute the triumvirate of
country's top leadership, during her six-day visit here.
Jia Qinglin, chairman of the Chinese People's
Political Consultative Conference would also meet her, Chinese
Foreign Ministry spokesman Ma Zhaoxu told a media briefing
here Thursday.
This is first time China has announced the programme
of President Patil's visit beginning on May 26.
Ma said Patil will visit China from May 26 to 31, at
the invitation of Chinese President Hu Jintao.
This is the first visit by the Indian head of the
state for about a decade, he said.
Besides having a hectic schedule in Beijing, Patil
will visit the pavilions of the Shanghai World Expo and go to
Luoyang in central China's Henan Province, where she will
attend the inauguration ceremony of the White Horse Temple,
the first Indian style Buddhist temple in China, Ma said.
The temple is located at Luoyang, one of China's
ancient capitals, in central China's Henan province.
It is being built adjacent to White Horse Temple which
according to the legend was built in the first century AD in
honour of two Indian monks who travelled on horseback,
carrying with them religious texts and an image of the Buddha.
India has provided technical, financial and other
support for the temple that stands on a 6,000 sq metre plot of
land provided by the Chinese government. PTI KJV
