Legal measures not the only way to curb corruption in Iran
TEHRAN, May 22 (MNA) - State Inspectorate Organization director has stated that punitive legal measures are not the only way to curb corruption.
Mostafa Pourmohammadi stated that at the moment the Judiciary is overburdened with responsibilities that it should not have accepted to begin with and emphasized that the resources and facilities needed for dealing with corruption are allocated to other organizations.
The official pointed out that the Judiciary is overloaded with numerous lawsuits and legal cases in recent years, and the institution should be provided with more facilities and resources in order to meet the demand.
The expectations from the judicial system should be in parallel with resources available to it, Pourmohammadi added.
Despite the thorough and capable efforts of the Judiciary, it is blamed for inaction and lack of firmness in dealing with corruption, he noted.
